Summary

Excavation in the car park of the Maid's Head prior to building works in 1988 uncovered a medieval cemetery for a chapel attached to the church of St Simon and St Jude. The chapel was where the hotel now stands. Fragments of medieval pottery were also found.

Excavation in car park of Maid's Head prior to building works, uncovered cemetery for chapel attached to church of St Simon and St Jude. No other details.
Information from Norfolk Archaeological Records on chapel.
Stood east side of Cook Row, adjoining north part of Bishop's House and originally a private chapel.
In 1314 still in use and belonged to St Giles's Hospital.
Seems to have been disused by 1400 when called Hospital's House.
