Found before 1883 'at Wayford Bridge' (bridge is at 347 248). In making a staithe ditch on the Smallburgh side.
Several human skulls and bones found 1.8m (6 feet) deep in peat. One female skull preserved in Museum of Royal College of Surgeons (?now destroyed).
