Summary

A small Palaeolithic black flint handaxe was found on shore here in 1970. In 1981 fragments of medieval pottery, animal bones and leather were recovered from a deposit exposed in roughly the same location.

Found on shore:
1 Palaeolithic small black flint handaxe. "Middle Acheulian". Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1971.151). See sketch (S1). Information from (S2).
This object was first reported in (S3) and is described on (S4) and in (S5) as a sub-cordate handaxe in very rolled condition. It is also noted in (S6), (S7) and (S8), although no additional information is given.

Found 2 feet [60cm] seaward side of concrete beach wall in grey deposit:
Medieval pottery sherds, animal bones and leather. Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1981.83).
