The soilmarks of two post medieval field boundary banks are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Hempstead Road, Ingham (S2). The site is centred on TG 4044 2780. The northern soilmark runs from TG 4005 2803 to TG 4066 2784 and the southern bank runs from TG 4006 2776 to TG 4093 2760. They both vary in width from approximately 5m to 15m, although the material is likely to have been spread by the plough. Although the entirety of boundaries cannot be traced on historic maps, some sections do correspond with former field boundaries marked on the Ordnance Survey Second Edition map (1902-7, 25") (S3) and the 1823 Ingham Enclosure map (S4).
S. Massey (NMP), 18 April 2005.
