Summary

Ploughing here in 1955 discovered a large mass of iron slag. The date of the slag could not be determined but it is possible that this material related to iron working which occurred on site at some point in the past.

November 1955. Struck in ploughing 0.5 miles west of Hulver Farm. Plough broke.
Large mass of iron slag. (Intact 31cm (1ft) across.)
(Map says 92cm (3ft) diameter and 23cm (9in) thick - E. Rose.)
Slag held by NCM, sample from finder.
