Summary

Listed as Sunways Mill, the present six storey red brick tower mill was built in 1849 by Martins the Suffolk millwrights to replace an earlier post mill. It was last turned by wind in 1930, being worked by engine in 1949. By 1971 it had lost its sail and original cap, although some machinery remained inside.

Present tower mill was built 1849 and replaced the earlier post mill. Last turned by wind in 1930, 'worked by engine' in 1949. [1]

Listed grade II 1986 as Sunways Mill; states six storeys not five.
Machinery comprises iron mortise great spur wheel on sixteen-sided hollow iron upright shaft, two pairs stones with vats and hoppers, but one pair open with runnerstone on iron lifting crane, crown wheel for stack hoist.
