Summary

A Mesolithic flint tranchet adze was found here by chance in 1955 (this object was originally recorded as a Neolithic pick). Metal-detecting between 2019 and 2020 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins and a medieval finger ring.

Found by donor while digging in orchard on west side of Chippesby House:
1 chipped flint pick. Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1955.198). Information from (S1).
Although originally recorded as a Neolithic pick, this object was subsequently examined by R. Jacobi and identified as a Mesolithic 'Norfolk-type' adze with a tranchet sharpening blow. Information from (S2).
