Map

'Site of saltpans' (Ordnance Survey 1926).

Visited 26 June 1934 by R.R. Clarke (NCM).
No trace of saltpans, a flat meadow.

Supposed to have been Roman, see (S1).
(S2) makes it clear this was discovered in excavating a drain. It was a 'square enclosure' and nearby was a 'submerged alder and ash thicket'.
