Summary

In 1819 three Roman lead pigs were found during tree felling in Saham Wood, and were supposedly melted down by a local plumber.

1819. 'Found in cutting down Saham Wood' - part of wood still marked by Ordnance Survey.
Three uninscribed lead pigs.
R. R. Clarke (NCM) card says 'unlocated' but (S1) says that they were immediately melted down by the village plumber. See also (S2), (S3), (S4).

R. R. Clarke (NCM) also gave (S5) but A. K. Gregory (NAU) says this is incorrect.
