Summary

In 1952 a human burial was discovered here during the making of a manhole. This burial comprised the skull of a young adult male and the skull was associated with a sherd of stamped Early Saxon pottery. Later, in 1957, a sewer trench dug here unearthed more bones that probably belonged to the same burial.
