Before April 1998. Metal detecting. Northeast corner of site, at [2].
Possible early post medieval small bronze seal matrix. Octagonal die carved with the head of a griffin couped, probably a heraldic crest. Either side of the griffin are possibly initials, now unreadable due to corrosion; without being able to read the initials, the family can't be identified as at least sixty families used the couped griffin (information from S. J. Ashley (NLA)). The handle of the seal matrix is conical (facetted) and very short, with a large perforated knob at the top.
A. Rogerson (NLA) 25 April 2000.
