Full Description
Cropmarks on (S1) taken 30 March 1946; old fields?
E. Rose (NAU).
February 2010. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks and soilmarks of linear features are visible on aerial photographs (S2)-(S7) on land between Watton Road and Mill Road, Great Ellingham. The ditches are centred on TM 0080 9725. It is likely that they represent field boundaries, although they are not visible on historic maps of the area.
An earthwork of the south-east corner of a possible enclosure is visible at TM 0052 9740, measuring at least 30m by 29m, within an area from which a medieval ampulla was recovered (NHER 41926).
E. Bales (NMP), 15 February 2010.
