Summary

A low mound and an associated ditch were discovered in woodland on Hargham Heath. The mound was overgrown and had a track running over it, but it has now been cleared and the track diverted. It has been interpreted as a small bell barrow, possibly dating to the Bronze Age.

On Hargham Heath about 305m (100ft) OD. Southeast of railway - low mound 30cm (1ft) high with trees all over surrounded by bank 1.8m (6ft) high 0.6m (2ft) wide at base, and external ditch 0.6-0.9m (2-3ft) wide (tree ring?) 35 paces diameter, bank top to bank top.

March 1985. Mound about 28m diameter with apparent berm 4m to ditch - possibly a small bell barrow. 0.6m high. Track over mound but little used.
J. Wymer (NAU).

Mound in woodland, bracken and birch predominate. Birch will be felled by cutting at ground level when work on trees is next undertaken in this area. Track mentioned as running over mound in 1985 has now been diverted away from the monument.
