Summary

In 1953 sewage excavations discovered a medieval well. The fill of the well contained 16th century pottery, quantities of bronze slag and lots of charcoal. Later, the construction of a new store for Curl Bros unearthed a further seven medieval and later wells in addition to 12th and 17th century pottery.

Well and flint and brick (1.8m (6ft) internal diameter) excavated.
Top 2.1m (7ft) excavated by D. R. Howlett (NCM).
16th century pottery, quantities of bronze slag (?from bell foundry) and much charcoal.
Site XIV on large plan.
