Summary

A Palaeolithic flint handaxe was found on a footpath here in 1950. This was not in situ and may have come from either the Keswick Mill Pit (NHER 9560) or the pit at Whitlingham (NHER 9663), both of which produced many Palaeolithic implements.

1950. Stray Find.
Found by [1] in material of footpath on county side of Harford Bridges:
1 Palaeolithic "Acheulian type" flint handaxe. Group III. Definitely not in situ. Information from (S1). Possibly from the pit near the mill (NHER 9560), although according to (S1) its type suggests an affinity with the material recovered at Whitlingham (NHER 9663).
Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1950.31).
