Location

Map sheet Not recorded
Civil Parish CAISTER ON SEA, GREAT YARMOUTH, NORFOLK
Civil Parish CAISTOR ST EDMUND, SOUTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

'Sceatta Group I (standard series 2b)'
See (S1), (S2).
(S3) by R. R. Clarke (NCM).

Entry by T. H. Mck. Clough on (S3) 'electrotype in NCM 10.939' is incorrect - refers to sceatta from NHER 8675, Caister on Sea.

NCM sceatta list (S4) gives as 'two coins' 'both secondary Runic R ante 1909 Sotherby Lot 17 21 June 1909'.

June 1983.
The reference in (S4) is to 'Caistor, Norfolk'. As there are no other sceatta from Caistor St Edmund, but several fron Caister on Sea, E.B. Green (NCM) feels it is more probable that these come from Caister on Sea.
E. Rose (NAU), 27 June 1983.

May 1985.
There are now more sceattas from Caistor St Edmund than Caister on Sea, so the last paragraph now no longer stands.
A. K. Gregory (NAU), 6 May 1985.
