Pre September 1868. Stray Find.
Recovered by [1] "from heap of stones by roadside":
1 prehistoric chipped flint axehead. Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1868.50.50). Information from (S1). Many years later this object was examined by R. Jacobi, who identified it as a Mesolithic tranchet axehead (S2).
Previously recorded as NHER 9880.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 27 March 2014.

Bramerton is listed in (S3) as having produced at least one Neolithic implement of "Sandy Site Site" that had been donated to the NCM. It seems reasonably that this was a reference to the axehead described above, as no other objects from the parish had been given to the museum at this time.

According to (S1) a note in the records of W. G. Clarke (S4), indicate that at least one polished implement had been recovered in this parish during the early 20th century. There are no other records of such an object.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 27 March 2014.
