Summary

At sometime long before 1929 a Roman copper alloy coin was found on a highway at or near Poringland. It was dated to 254-7.

Found on a highway at or near Poringland many years before 1929.
A bronze coin dating to about 254-7 was recovered. Obverse shows female head right "DIVAE MARINIANAE" (nearly size of 1/-). Reverse has peacock with outstretched wings 'CONSECRATIO' (S1).
