Summary

In 1963 a few Roman pottery sherds, some pot boilers, animal bones and Saxon and medieval pottery sherds were recovered during construction work in the grounds of Wattlefield Hall.

1963. While digging gas pipe trench in grounds of Wattlefield Hall.
Two sherds of Roman pottery pot boiler and animal bones. About 2ft (60cm) down there are patches of very dark soil with pot boilers. The ground in the area marked on the 6inch Ordnance Survey map (S1) is very uneven.

A few Roman, but predominantly medieval sherds and two Ipswich (One sandy and one pimply). From the 1963 pipe trench.
