Summary

The site of a medieval moated manor house. The wide, wet moat remains around a central square island, on which are 19th century cottages, accessed by a 19th century brick bridge.

Manor House on (S1).
Excellent wide wet moat, square island embanked up several feet. Entrance by 19th century brick bridge on north (or causeway; arches below water level). Only buildings on island are 19th century cottages.

September 2002.
Wet moat about 11 to 15m wide, about 115m long, broadens to pond feature in southwest corner. Arches below waterline at entrance bridge/causeway to north. Heavy overhang of trees around 'pond' and to south. Mature trees, younger saplings and scrub in many areas. Interior garden to west, rough pasture to east. 19th century cottages remain on island.
