Full Description
Originally of 1640, of which the cellars and the chimneys survive.
Rest rebuilt in Georgian period, and wing added in 19th century.
When new porch made in 1973, foundations and a cobbled yard were found.
Information from (S1).
(S2) shows a most remarkable garden layout with winding paths and what may be a prospect mound suggesting a 17th century date.
E. Rose (NLA), 31 January 2006.
The 1st edition 6 inch map (S3) shows the garden fringed with trees and an a number of rectilinear pathways. It suggests that between 1838 and the late 1880s the garden was redesigned and that the winding paths were removed. The possible prospect mound feature is not shown.
D. Robertson (NLA), 28 June 2006.
