Summary

Early 16th century timber-framed three-cell house with brick nogging, very ornate beams and later alterations. Excavations and investigations during restorations recovered large fragments of reused limestone carved blocks, a horse jaw (perhaps left as a charm), an early 16th century jetton, a reliquary in the form of a book and an early medieval fragment of pottery.

Excavations and investigations during restorations in 1982 recovered large fragments of reused carved limestone blocks, a horse jaw (perhaps left as a charm), an early 16th century jetton, a reliquary in the form of a book and an early medieval fragment of pottery.

(S2) notes that one of the rooms in the house is much better beamed than the others. It is tentatively suggested that the building may be a guild house with a meeting room paid for by its members.
