Full Description
'Dredged from the river Yare, Gorleston, Norfolk'.
Old label on smaller of two amphorae, alledgedly Roman, offered for sale by [1] in January 1955.
Both in pinkish brown gritty paste, small one with serpulid barnacles etc. attached, large one clean.
A. Gregory (NAU) says (S1) are right in form for Roman but size is too small if they really are 1/1.
