Summary

A Beaker pot with barbed wire decoration made by wrapping a string five times around the vessel was found in foundation trenches. A watching brief in 1997 found no archaeological features and finds.

1979. Found in digging foundation trenches adjacent to Lacon Arms Public House.
Beaker, (S6 and S7). Barbed wire decoration in around 2cm lengths. String wrapped around five times around axis. Exterior pale red to buff to dark brown. Interior light to dark brown. Core, black.
Information from (S1) left behind by A. Lawson (NAU), made 15 July 1980 but no card or other reference found.

Medium hard fabric + gray + flint and rounded quartz grains like that found in Stutton, Suffolk ?East Anglian Type. Cf Beaker from Stuston illustrated in (S3)

(S4) has a pencil cross just northwest of above spot at 5058 1728. W. Milligan (NCM) does not know why this is there, and there is no information with it. Did A. Lawson (NAU) mark it for this find and get no further?
