Full Description
21 February 1984. Good conditions, growing crop.
Rapid walking of massive field excluding areas already noted as sites NHER 20125 to NHER 20127.
Revealed no concentrations except context 2 post medieval sherds not collected.
Finds from context 1 not separately located, except that most prehistoric sherds came from near context 2.
Context 1 general scatter.
3 worked flints; 3 Roman coarse and 1 Roman oxidised sherds; 3 medieval unglazed, 3 glazed Grimston, 6 prehistoric flint gritted; 18 Unidentifiable reduced, varying dates, 1 sandy ?Ipswich base.
Context 2. 50m sq. Walked systematically.
Iron Age concentration fading out to north and west uncertain extent to south and east.
About 120 mid-late Iron Age sherds including 8 with finger tip decoration and 1 ?stick impressed all sandy with a few flint gritted. Identified by A. Gregory (NAU).
Also 7 Roman coarseware, 3 medieval unglazed, 1 16th century glazed, 1 vitrified distorted, ?date; 1 worked flint.

Context 1 Finds.
2 flints; 71 Iron Age sherds (predominantly sandy, some gritty, some decorated as in 145B); 4 Roman coarse; 6 glazed
Grimston; 20 medieval unglazed; 1 medieval peg rooftile; 2 undated oxidised sherds.
This rewalk shows that Iron Age concentration in 145B extends south for about 40m but only east for about 10m.
Eastern 30% of field very sparse in finds.
