Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting at this site between 1986 and 2013 has recovered a range of objects, including potentially prehistoric burnt flints; Neolithic/Bronze Age worked flints; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman and medieval coins and a small number of other, medieval to post-medieval metal objects.

November 2013. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey of proposed extension to Norton Subcourse Quarry (Extraction Phases 11-13).
The small assemblage of finds recovered comprised:
24 Neolithic or Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age worked flints, including 1 core fragment, 19 flakes and flake fragments, 3 blades/blade fragments and 1 end scraper.
8 ?prehistoric burnt flints.
5 Roman pottery sherds.
2 medieval pottery sherds.
3 medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds.
21 post-medieval pottery sherds.
No significant concentrations of material were identified.
The metal-detecting recovered only modern objects and other recent debris.
