Summary

The house dates mainly from the 18th century, but the high quality of the garden building suggests the presence of an earlier, and much grander great house on this site. The garden building probably dates from the 17th century.

Map

Garden house (so called Dovecote) now converted is the oldest building on site, late 17th century in ornate brickwork, altered 1906. It suggests the presence of an earlier, grander hall. Present hall rear wing is of c.1700, perhaps 1736 as this date occurs on adjacent barn. It was partly converted from three to two storeys in late 18th century. Main hall wing is c.1820.
