June 2022.
Shirehall found to be badly affected by dry rot. This "significant" outbreak had been caused by a leaking roof and covers approximately 25% of the historic courtroom, which has been stripped back to expose the timbers beneath. Dry rot has also been discovered in the structural timbers of the roof. The planned treatment of the outbreak will require the replacement of the affected timbers and the installation of steel barriers to stop the dry rot spreading.
See local press article (S4) for further details.
