Summary

Undated shallow ditches were seen here before 1974 and prehistoric burnt flints were recovered. Excavations before residential development in 1983 found no archaeological finds.

June 1983.
Northeast part of area excavated for housing estate.
Not seen until after road laid and spoil spread over plots, but no finds made in this area.

March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The undated ditches described above were not identified with any certainty on the consulted aerial sources. An area of possible ridging identified in the southern part of the site, which may correspond with some of the features recorded above, has been recorded separately as NHER 68077. Other ditches in this area appear to be drainage ditches of low archaeological significance and have not been recorded.
