Summary

Fieldwalking on this site by the Black Carr Research Group has recovered concentrations of prehistoric burnt flint and large numbers of Roman pottery sherds including high quality Samian ware. Over 100 fragments of pottery were found suggesting that this was an occupation site during the Roman period. There is also a possible burnt mound site where burnt flint is concentrated and the slag recovered from the site is evidence for metal working here.
