Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 1993 recovered a Roman coin, a Roman brooch, a fragment of an Early Saxon brooch, a medieval strap fitting and part of a medieval vessel. The Early Saxon brooch fragment was burnt, suggesting that it came from a cremation.

Head and spine of Colchester two piece brooch, 1st century.
Medieval strap end of folded sheet, with one rivet and expanded border.
Medieval sheet rivet for vessel repair.
Identified by J. Davies (NCM) and S. Margeson (NCM).
