Summary

Metal detecting in 2994 recovered a Saxon brooch of Continental type, dating to the 9th century. It was decorated with enamel and the figure of a haloed saint.

9th century enamelled disc brooch of Continental type. Half length figure of saint and halo. Enamel missing. Broken lug and worn catch plate on reverse. Copper alloy. For comparison see Sachsen und Angelsachsen Colour pl.N and cat.no. 493.
