Full Description
Late 1996. Metal-detecting.
Head of small Ringerike-style animal with open jaws, oval eye and curling-forward ear. Details delineated with engraved lines. Broken off at neck. Flat, undecorated reverse. Late Saxon, probably part of bridle cheek piece. See drawing (S1) and polaroid (S2).
Sheared off suspension loop from probably medieval purse or similar, decorated with cross cut into top.

one Oxfordshire red colour coated ware base.
four grey wares (slightly micaceous).
one coarse ware base-angle Roman bowl with a ?slipped.
five coarse Roman grey.
Medieval five pot sherds; three medieval (one late medieval/transitional and one green glazed Grimston handle); one lead glazed earthenware.
One post medieval tile (glazed).
Iron Age coin.
