Full Description
12 December 1935.
1 flint flake found by A. Q. Watson (NCM)
Ditched bowl barrow about 546m (600 yards) due west of Peddars Way.
About 2.7m (9 feet) high from bottom of ditch, about 27m (30 yards) diameter but about 59m (65 yards) if bank is really part of barrow and not for tree planting.
Planted with oaks, much dug for rabbits.
Ditch about 91cm (3 feet) deep on north and about 60cm (2 feet) on south below level of surrounding heath.
R. R. Clarke (NCM) 14 June 1936.
Could be a bell barrow.
Covered in trees, apparent berm in places.
30m diameter 1.8m high.
A. J. Lawson (NAU) 7 February 1974.
'There are many Roman remains from the barrows on Anmer Heath', see (S1).
'Barrows near Anmer', see (S2), 'Four Barrows', see (S3) (includes Anmer Minque in Flitcham).
(S4) gave as 1.83m (6 feet) high, ditches 30cm (1 feet) deep.
A. J. Lawson (NAU)
25 August 1983.
Condition as above. Sign of disturbance on top, but not recent.
J. J. Wymer (NAU).
Situated in copse.
Covered in brambles, and supporting mature oak, some diseased. Profile flattened to south. Minimal animal disturbance.
H. Paterson (A&E) March 1991.
(S5) gives dimensions as 17 x 27m and 1.3m high, berm varying between 1.5m and 9m (sic) wide; ditch 0.7m deep and 10m wide, outer bank 0.25m high by 8m (sic) wide.
One wonders if these dimensions are correctly expressed.
E. Rose (NLA) 20 November 1995.
