Summary

Metal detecting has recovered a large number of medieval finds including fragments of pottery, coins and personal items such as buckles (including an unusual example with an openwork pattern of arches), strap ends (one elaborately decorated with the initials S and A), brooches and keys. Post medieval finds include jettons from Nuremburg, a French jetton, a jews harp and three lead cloth seals. The number of finds and presence of pottery as well as metal objects suggests this was an area of medieval settlement.
