Full Description
Airfield from World War Two, in use 1944 to 1947.
Now mostly ploughed up, but parts of runways remain, three new roads have been built out of them. A few buildings to south, several incorporated into a farm on east; very large brick shooting butts on west.

This site was the last of Norfolk's RAF airfields to come into operation in World War Two, opening in spring 1944. the squash court at Swannington airfield is well-preserved. For further information on the operational history of the airfield and photographs of remaining buildings, see (S2).

The extent of the World War Two airfield has been extended to the south to include additional structures and an area of huts and bomb storage facilities to the south of the main airfield, that are visible on aerial photographs (S3).
