Full Description
1962. Cakes Hill. In digging trench for drain from new bungalow.
Wall of Roman bricks cut through. Samples of material salvaged. These include bricks, flue tiles and flanged roof tiles.
R. R. Clarke (NCM).
Location sketch (S1) in file.
May 1986. Footings cut on adjacent plot for new building.
Cut through topsoil into silty gravel (till?) holding water. No features, no finds.
J. J. Wymer (NAU) 8 May 1986.
February 2013. Norfolk NMP.
Assessments of the historic aerial photographs for this site revealed no convincing traces of any cropmarks relating to underlying walls, although see NHER 58611 for possible features recorded in this area. Although it must be noted that these features mapped are of uncertain archaeological origin and may relate to relatively recent activity within the field.
S. Horlock (NMP), 01 February 2013.
