Summary

Excavations here in 1973 as part of the Norwich Survey revealed that the earliest occupation dated to the 10th or 11th century, and took the form of timber buildings with an associated well. It is presumed that any late 12th century building was destroyed in a rebuilding of the 13th century. Addtionally, an early to mid-16th century brick and flint walled block was added to the north of the medieval building, which itself was rebuilt in the 17th century.
