Full Description
Former use unknown, now shops and office. Early 17th century onwards with 20th century renovation. Rendered timber frame first floor, flint rubble rear wall. Pantile roof. Two storeys, jetty at first floor. Seven bays. Three 20th century shop fronts and carriage entry to the left of centre. Behind No.19 on right of carriage arch.
Former house now restaurant. 15th century partly rebuilt 20th century. Rendered flint rubble. Pantile roof. Two storeys plus undercroft.
Undercroft. Brick ribs, webbing, four bays with central stone column having moulded base and capital. Each bay has double order diagonal ribs and wall arches. May be finest surviving in Norwich.
1973. NCM/Norwich Survey excavation.
A foundation trench cut through the centre of a Late Saxon pottery kiln.
Subsequent pits and structures had destroyed all but one corner and part of the side of the kiln lining.
1973. Material from holes in floor of undercroft and from fill over it.
Thetford Ware - post medieval. Material from kiln.
1974. Restoration.
Post medieval garderobe.
1975. Continuing work started in 1974.
Well and garderobe chute. More Late Saxon material from excavation for rebuilding of steps out of undercroft.
