Summary

In 1974 an excavation was undertaken on this site for the Norwich Survey. It was discovered that in the 12th to 13th centuries a 2m wide ditch ran parallel to Cowgate, and this may have been the north boundary of Norman's Hospital. During the 13th to 15th centuries this site appears to have been unoccupied, but in the 15th to 16th centuries the earliest houses on the site were constructed, and in the 17th century the site was subdivided.
