Full Description
1975. Trial Trenching.
Excavations revealed no Middle Saxon occuation.
13th- to 16th-century buildings including tannery excavated.
The results of this work are summarised in (S1).

April-May 1976. Excavation.
Excavation of area subject to trial trenching in 1975.
Evidence for flimsily-built outbuildings and animal pens within the yards of 15th- and 16th-century buildings. Of these buildings only a cob and flint/brick-walled rear range had survived the 19th-century road widening.
