Summary

The bank that stands here was built in 1906-08 by G. J. Skipper. In 1973 test holes were dug in the basement and near London Street and Castle Meadow street frontages. These unearthed medieval pottery sherds, animal and fish bones and part of a ditch possibly relating to the castle. A number of post medieval finds of a similar nature were also recovered.
