Full Description
1979. Stray Find.
On building site while clearing basement. Found in soil at depth of about 7ft [2.1m], 30ft [9m] from front of building (against boundary wall of Cathedral precinct):
One human skull, half of the lower jaw, three fragments of vertebrae.
Several fragments of animal bone (one of which shows clean cutting suggesting industrial usage).
Four fragments of tile (three glazed).
Found at about 4ft [1.2m] deep:
Large iron blade ?of axe.

Found by same finder as above:
Human skeletal remains (three vertebrae, rib fragment and fragment of cranium).
Animal remains including bones of horse, sheep, cow and bird.
Late Saxon pottery sherd (Thetford Ware rim).
Two unidentifiable rusted iron fragments.
