Map

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The two mounds appear as sub-rounded to irregular light coloured or ‘parched’ features, situated to the immediate south-east of North farm (S1). The western feature has a maximum diameter of 50m and the eastern feature has a maximum (north to south) length of 65m. There is a dark line running between the two features which may be a relict saltmarsh channel. It is possible that each mound was originally larger than it now appears as a cropmark, or that the two mounds were originally all one mound. These are almost certainly saltern mounds and, based on the material found on neighbouring saltern sites, are likely to be medieval in date.
M. Brennand (NMP), 7 October 2002.
