Map

June 2003. Norfolk NMP.
Up to six mounds are visible (S1) on the reclaimed saltmarsh, although these may have originally been fewer, larger mounds. The five mounds in the eastern side of the site are sub-rounded and flori-form in plan, with diameters ranging from 34m to 78m. The westernmost mound (TF 6110 2184) is irregular to horseshoe shaped in plan with a maximum dimension of 65m.
These are probably medieval or early post-medieval saltern mounds, formed by piles of waste sand during salt processing. They are part of a larger group of mounds on the former saltmarsh to the west of the former course of the Great Ouse.
M. Brennand (NMP), 26 June 2003.
