Full Description
June 2001. Norfolk NMP.
Two short narrow stretches of bank are visible on RAF 1946 aerial photographs (S1). It seems likely that they were originally one bank running from NGR TF6338 3280 to TF6499 3280, however, there is now a gap due to an apparent track at TF6491 3281. These banks are presumably at least late post-medieval in date. They are depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map (1890) (S2) and the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition map (1902-7) (S3). They run approximately perpendicular to the coast and bank NHER 26635. They no longer appear to abut the bank (NHER 26635), but they do on the old maps. (There is now a slight gap evident).
H. Clare (NMP), 18 June 2001.
