Map

June 2001. Norfolk NMP.
A narrow stretch of bank is visible on Ordnance Survey 1967 (S1) and RAF 1946 aerial photographs (S2). The bank is about 135m long and runs from NGR TF6494 3396 to TF6497 3383 (northwest to southeast, heading slightly inland). At its northern end it appears to abut the coastal bank of NHER 26638. This bank is presumably at least late post-medieval in date and is likely to be connected to the sea defences of the area. It is depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition map (1890) (S2) and the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition map (1902-7) (S3). (There is a ditch running along side the bank and this is marked as a drain on the modern map. It is not clearly evident on the early Ordnance Survey maps and, therefore, has not been plotted).
