Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated triple linear ditches along a parish boundary, probably defining a medieval to post medieval road, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3218 3153. Three parallel ditches extend intermittently for up to 220m between TG 3214 3143 to TG 3220 3164. They mark the line of the Witton and Bacton (formerly Edingthorpe) parish boundary. The date of these ditches is uncertain, but two of them may define the course of a medieval to post medieval road, which follows this parish boundary (NHER 16649). It is possible that one or more of the ditches may relate to the parish boundary itself and may be of an earlier medieval or Saxon date. The alignment of this parish boundary is similar to another triple ditch cropmark 300m further to the west (NHER 39026).
