Full Description
Holme fish trap VI.
April 2005. Holme Beach Archaeological Survey (see NHER 37792).
An alignment of posts orientated northeast to southwest. It comprises five posts embedded in the peat beds; each stood between 0.06m and 0.15m above the surface of the peat. The structure is undated at present. It is of a similar form and on a similar alignment to a number of the nearby Saxon fish traps (for example NHER 38042, 38043 and 39586) and could be one itself. It could form part of a single alignment with HER 38209 and 38210, but this is far from certain.
D. Robertson (NLA), 5 May 2005.
For further information on the Holme Beach walkover and monitoring surveys see final report (S1). The archive associated with this work has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2010.321).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 11 May 2019.
