Full Description
March 2006. Norfolk NMP.
Fragmentary linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S4), centred at TG 4649 1755. Too little is visible for any meaningful interpretation to be made; some may be drainage ditches or field boundaries, others may reflect the underlying geology of the site or recent agricultural activity rather than a buried archaeological feature. Their date is unknown but their varied orientation suggests that more than one phase of activity is represented. A small, undated enclosure located in the southeastern quadrant of the site (NHER 27465) may be contemporary with the ditch that forms its south side, and perhaps also with some of the other nearby ditch fragments.
It should be noted that due to a lack of suitable control points, some of the cropmarks were sketched from unrectified parts of the photographs.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 20 March 2006.
